"The Shostakovich Sonata, strongly valedictory in mood, was powerfully projected, penetrating to the sonata's core".
In 2010 Alan joined the viola player Carol Hubel-Allen to form the Duo Karadys.
Carol studied at the Royal Academy of Music under the tutelage of Sydney Griller and Max Rostal, receiving many awards for her playing, including the String Quartet Competition Colmar, in France. Masterclasses with Louis Persinger, Bruno Giuranna and Sandor Vegh followed. Whilst still a student at the 'Academy she was invited to play in the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra after which she joined the Pfeifer String Quartet, touring extensively in Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, France and Sweden. Most recently, she became a member of the Dehler String Quartet of the Staatskapelle Weimar. She has made numerous radio and television recordings and CD's include recordings of Beethoven and Reger quartets.
The pair recently recorded Schubert's 'Arpeggione' Sonata and the Sonata for Viola and Piano by David Earl (pictured above), a work they premiered at the 2014 Cheltenham Music Festival.
